The 152nd anniversary of the shooting of eight medical students was a reason for the municipality of Banes to pay tribute to the event that took place on November 27, 1871 in Havana.

The event, which took place at the Obelisk erected in honor of the martyrs of Banes, brought together those who share the love for medicine, students of the Medical Sciences Branch of this northeastern territory and representatives of the Public Health sector in the Archeological Capital of Cuba.

The meeting was attended by Yelennis Pazo Guerrero, member of the Municipal Bureau of the Party in charge of the political-ideological sphere; Jorge Félix Proenza González, mayor of the municipality; Hernán Ochoa González, president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power and other members of the Party, the Government, the Youth and mass organizations in Banes.

The tribute also denounced the crimes committed in Palestine by the Israeli government. Likewise, recognition was given to Nailé Edita Sanchez Lara, who won third place in the National Festival of Amateur Artists, in the Visual Arts (photography) category, who was also in charge of the central words.
