The cassava was originally produced by the aborigines of the Caribbean basin, in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Lesser Antilles, using as raw material the Yucca, a very common plant in these areas.
