Social object:
- Guarantee health promotion as well as preventive, curative, and hygienic and epidemiological control through the application of strategies and programs prioritized by the National Health System.
- Provide health services to Cuban citizens in the specialties and modalities defined for the center.
- Provide emergency and elective care services to foreigners who require it, acting as managers of the collection of Cubanacan tourism and health in Cuban convertible pesos of the services provided.
- Carry out the epidemiological hygienic control of the intra-hospital environment.
- Carry out research and development activities in the activities that are intended.
- Carry out health education activities with the population.
- Provide comprehensive care for the promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of health in the population.
- Provide dining and cafeteria services to students and workers in Cuban pesos.
- To undertake the state sanitary inspection to demand the application of the territorial norms the fulfillment of the plans and program of hygiene and epidemiology.
- Carry out teaching activities mainly for the improvement of undergraduate and graduate technicians and specialists.
- Carry out research and development activities in the activities that are for each Unit, acting as a reference center.
Characterization: There are 5 Health Areas: Cesar Fornet, Deleyte, Los Ángeles, Cañadón and Darío Calzadilla. In the Banes municipality there are 2 Hospitals, 87 Clinics, 1 Stomatological Clinic, 5 Polyclinic, 1 Maternal Home, 1 Home for the Elderly and 1 Home for Grandparents. In 2019 we accumulated 410 births, against 418 in 2018, with two deaths in 2019, against one in 2018, the mortality rate behaves at 4.6 x 1000 live births in 2019, against 2.6 in the same 2018 period. Low birth weight 28, against 25 in the previous year, increasing by +3, at the expense of preterm and CIUR. The maternal mortality rate remains at 0. Health has a human capital of 2,734 workers, of them 1,851 professionals, and 179 are in medical cooperation.
